Two pet-friendly restaurants in Gyeonggi Province, supported by the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency, received regulatory sandbox demonstration exceptions approval from the Industrial Convergence Regulatory Sandbox Deliberation Committee.
On the 7th, the agency announced that last month, Cafe Sage and Passion Co., Ltd. obtained approval for 'pet-friendly restaurants' through the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's demonstration exception. These businesses have made it possible to operate pet-friendly dining by creating dedicated pet spaces and strengthening hygiene management.
The agency is currently providing consulting support to nine companies in the province to proceed with additional approvals.
The current Food Sanitation Act prohibits pets from accompanying people in restaurants and cafes.
For this approval, the agency closely supported the entire process from application writing to business plan establishment and legal review.
Additionally, to support regulatory sandbox applications, the agency held a 'Pet-Friendly Restaurant Regulatory Sandbox Application Coaching Class' at the Suwon Convention Center in June. This program provided practical assistance to local small business owners from application writing to the review process for regulatory sandbox applications.
Kang Seong-cheon, head of the agency, stated, "We will continue to reflect the voices from the field to resolve inconveniences in residents' daily lives and continuously promote regulatory innovation by identifying regulations on small and medium enterprises and various daily life regulations."
The agency offers consulting for regulatory sandbox applications in various fields such as industrial convergence, ICT convergence, mobility, and circular economy for small and medium enterprises in the province. It also supports the commercialization of companies approved for demonstration exceptions.
