GS25 Launches Instant Issuance Service for Travel Wallet Card
Issued Within 2 Minutes via Smart ATM
GS Retail's convenience store GS25 announced on the 7th that it has started an instant issuance service for the 'Travel Wallet Card' through smart ATMs in stores from the 6th of this month.
The Travel Wallet Card is a prepaid card operated by Travel Wallet, a fintech company with over 5 million customers. It allows currency exchange and charging for 46 currencies, including the South Korean won, on a single card, and offers zero fees for payments in both won and all foreign currencies.

Using GS25's smart ATM, the Travel Wallet Card can be issued in about 2 minutes. Previously, it took an average of 6 days to issue the Travel Wallet Card. GS25 will deploy around 50 smart ATMs capable of issuing the Travel Wallet Card this month, focusing on Seoul, Gyeonggi, and major metropolitan areas. The plan is to expand from 600 units to up to 5,000 units in the second half of this year.
The card issuance process using GS25's smart ATM is as follows: ▲Create a wallet in the Travel Wallet app ▲Select instant issuance at GS25 convenience stores in the card application ▲Issue the Travel Wallet Card through the ATM at GS25 stores ▲Register the card for use in the Travel Wallet app. The registered card can be used immediately, with no separate issuance fees or charges.
Through this instant issuance service of the Travel Wallet Card, GS25 expects to provide convenience to customers preparing for overseas travel or wanting to use payment services domestically, while also increasing customer inflow to stores for card issuance.
Earlier, GS Retail and Travel Wallet signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in March to strengthen mutual competitiveness between distribution and fintech sectors. This instant issuance service for the Travel Wallet Card is the first outcome of the MOU.
Lee Tae-young, Product Planner (MD) of GS Retail's Service Product Team, said, "GS25 has introduced the convenient Travel Wallet Card instant issuance service as an overseas payment method to strengthen its function as a neighborhood financial platform," adding, "We will continue to expand mutual synergy between distribution and fintech to provide customers with new experiences and services."
Meanwhile, to commemorate the launch of the Travel Wallet smart ATM instant issuance service, GS25 will offer a free Ottogi small-sized cup ramen when paying with the Travel Wallet Card in stores until the end of this month.
