Having lost to Mihain Lopez (Cuba) in the round of 16 the previous day, Lee Seung-chan was unable to overcome the misfortune of facing strong opponents in two consecutive matches and was eliminated.
Lopez won the Olympic gold medal four times in a row: in the 120kg category at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Games, and in the 130kg category at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro and 2020 Tokyo Games.
In the men's Greco-Roman 97kg round of 16 held on the same day, Kim Seung-jun (Sungshin Cement) also lost 0-9 to Artur Aleksanyan (Armenia). However, if Aleksanyan advances to the final, Kim Seung-jun will advance to the repechage match held on the 7th.
