"We Will Remember Independence Activists" ... Changwon Special City Promotes 190 Changwon-born Figures

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam has launched an active campaign to promote the '190 Great Independence Activists of Changwon' in celebration of the 79th anniversary of the August 15 Liberation Day.

The city produced promotional materials listing the names of 190 independence activists from Changwon and, in collaboration with local community leaders and human safety networks, implemented the 'Proudly Promoting Our Village Independence Activists Everywhere' project. They visited multi-use facilities, social welfare centers, and memorial sites where independence movements took place, to promote the campaign and put up posters.

This year marks the fourth implementation of the independence activist promotion campaign, which began in 2021. Over the past three years, banners were displayed in major city areas.

This year, under the theme 'Living Patriotism in Everyday Life, Patriotism for All,' promotional materials were posted in multi-use facilities, smart shade canopies, and bus stop information boards?places easily accessible to all citizens?so that everyone can practice patriotism in their daily lives.

Additionally, banners reading 'The 79th Anniversary of Liberation Day: The Day We Regained the Light, We Will Not Forget Today That Will Light the Future' have been hung throughout the city. Various online and offline media are being used to promote Liberation Day to citizens and foster a celebratory atmosphere.

To further enhance the festive spirit of Liberation Day, a 'Changwon Independence Activist Promotion Certification Photo' event will be held until the 31st. Citizens who wish to participate can take a photo of the promotional material about the 190 Changwon independence activists and upload it to the event board on the city hall website. Through a drawing, 200 people will receive a 10,000-won Changwon Love Mobile Gift Certificate, giving citizens another opportunity to reflect on Liberation Day.
