Korea Export Packaging is showing strong performance. This is interpreted as being influenced by news that the price of corrugated paperboard raw materials will increase by about 20%.
As of 2:04 PM on the 6th, Korea Export Packaging is trading at 2,170 KRW, up 6.63% compared to the previous day.
According to the paper industry on the previous day, major corrugated paperboard raw material manufacturers announced that they will raise the price of corrugated paperboard raw materials by about 80,000 to 90,000 KRW per ton depending on the type. This is about a 20% increase compared to prices three years ago.
This is due to the rise in prices of raw materials such as waste paper and supply-demand instability. According to industry insiders, the supply of waste paper is reported to be so tight that the usual average inventory level of about 10 days has sharply dropped to less than 3 days.
The supply shortage is also analyzed to be influenced by the reduction of ships using the Red Sea since the end of last year, which has decreased the amount of European waste paper that should go to Southeast Asia, with Korean waste paper replacing that position.
Meanwhile, Korea Export Packaging operates a corrugated paperboard raw material manufacturing business at the Osan plant and corrugated paperboard and corrugated box manufacturing and sales businesses at the Anseong, Yangsan, and Daejeon plants.
