Yangsan Youth Center Cheongdam Hosts 'Let's Play Together' Event

‘Yangsan City Youth Hope Hi-Pass’ Project for Isolated and Reclusive Youth

Opportunities for Mutual Communication Through Youth Mentoring Teams and Group Missions

The Yangsan Youth Center 'Cheongdam' (Director Park Hyunkyung) in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, has been implementing the 'Yangsan Youth Hope Hi-Pass' project since June this year to support the healthy growth of isolated and reclusive youth.

As part of this project, on the 30th of last month, a mindfulness-based relationship recovery support program called 'Gachi Norayu' was held, with a total of 30 participants including 20 Hope Hi-Pass participants and 10 youth mentors.

The 'Yangsan Youth Hope Hi-Pass' project aims to support self-reliance and restore social networks for isolated and reclusive youth who avoid academics, employment, and social relationships, living disconnected from the outside world and experiencing difficulties in social activities. The project provides systematic programs such as counseling, program participation, and the creation of personal growth plans, with the purpose of supporting independence, restoring social connections, and preventing isolation and reclusion.

'Gachi Norayu' was designed to create a space for mutual dialogue through meetings between youth mentors who have completed the youth expert course at the Yangsan Youth Center and participants who have completed Hope Hi-Pass counseling. Through group missions, the program aimed to support relationship recovery and mutual exchange. Under the mission 'Youth Save Youth,' the program received positive responses from participants by helping them restore social relationships, form new connections, and build confidence through interaction with various peers.

A participant, Mr. Lee, said, "I usually have a lot of difficulties in relationships with people, but through today's program, I was able to speak comfortably with my mentor and gained confidence in communicating with various people." He expressed hope that the program would continue rather than being a one-time event.

Director Park Hyunkyung said, "Rather than rigid lectures, it seems more helpful for isolated and reclusive youth to have a program where peer youth mentors listen and communicate together," adding, "We will continue to develop ongoing programs rather than one-off events."

A city official stated, "Yangsan City is building and operating an organic cooperation system with various organizations to actively identify isolated and reclusive youth who need help but may not recognize it themselves," adding, "The Youth Center plans to promote various projects to support the self-growth and daily recovery of isolated and reclusive youth."
