[Invest&Law] Robax Appoints Jang Jin-seok, Former HMM Legal Director

Jang Jin-seok, former head of legal affairs at HMM (age 59, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 21), has joined the law firm Robax.

Law firm Robax announced on the 7th that it has recruited former head Jang as a representative attorney. With the addition of Representative Attorney Jang, Robax plans to strengthen its corporate internal control and legal risk prevention sectors.

Representative Attorney Jang will be responsible for corporate legal affairs at Robax, including corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, management disputes, and domestic and international antitrust regulations. He will also handle tasks related to corporate internal control systems, a key focus area for Robax.

Representative Attorney Jang has worked at STX Offshore & Shipbuilding and HMM, handling corporate restructuring and mergers and acquisitions. He is especially recognized as an expert in management improvement and legal risk management in the shipbuilding and shipping sectors.

Jang, who graduated from Busan Haedong High School and Seoul National University School of Law, passed the 30th Judicial Examination in 1988. After completing the 21st class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute in 1992, he began his legal career at law firm Chungjung in 1995.

From 2015 to 2017, he served as Executive Director of the Global Legal Team at STX Offshore & Shipbuilding, leading corporate restructuring and international litigation and arbitration. Since 2017, as head of legal affairs at HMM, which entered workout proceedings, he has managed overall corporate legal affairs including overseas asset acquisitions and regulatory responses in major countries such as the United States for seven years.

Kim Ki-dong, representative attorney of Robax (age 60, class 21), said, "Representative Attorney Jang is an expert in corporate legal affairs with extensive experience in both large law firms and corporations," adding, "This will enable Robax, which aims to be a specialized corporate and financial law firm, to provide even stronger services to its clients."
