Creation of 200m Barefoot Loess Trail at 879 Sangam-dong Bueongyi Neighborhood Park... Completion Targeted for December
Installation of Foot Washing Facilities, Loess Footbath, Benches, and Other Amenities to Enhance Visitor Convenience
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, “We Will Create an Urban Loess Trail for All Ages to Enjoy”
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) is creating a ‘Barefoot Loess Path’ at Bueong-i Neighborhood Park located at 879 Sangam-dong.
With the growing popularity of barefoot walking, Mapo-gu enacted the Barefoot Walking Promotion Ordinance in May this year and is promoting the ‘Bueong-i Neighborhood Park Barefoot Loess Path Construction Project,’ aiming for completion in December.
The barefoot loess path, accessible to people of all ages, will be approximately 200 meters long. For the convenience of users, auxiliary facilities such as foot washing stations, loess foot baths, and benches will be installed.
To create the loess path, Mapo-gu will remove hazardous trees and old facilities within the park and improve the drainage system. Additionally, paving materials that minimize loess erosion will be used to facilitate easy maintenance.
Mapo-gu expects that through barefoot walking on the loess path, residents will be able to escape their tiring daily lives, enjoy leisure time with nature, and gain benefits such as stress relief and health improvement.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, Mapo-gu also installed foot washing stations and shoe lockers on the Masato Path located in the Nanji Themed Tourism Forest Trail ‘Poet’s Street,’ enabling residents to enjoy diverse trees and flowers while promoting health and healing.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “Barefoot walking is an exercise that anyone can enjoy without strain or burden,” adding, “We will do our best to create and manage the barefoot loess path in the city where people can safely and comfortably experience the natural soil, regardless of age or gender.”
