Geochang International Theater Festival Holds Seminar to Promote Revitalization

Detailed Strategies for Designing the Future of the Geochang International Theater Festival

Geochang Cultural Foundation in Gyeongnam announced on the 5th that it held a seminar for the revitalization of the Geochang International Theater Festival at the Geochang Suseungdae Festival Theater.


The seminar began with theater critic Kim Mihui's "Contemporary Trends of Famous Festivals," followed by theater critic Choi Yunwoo's "Current Status and Changes of Performing Arts Festivals," and concluded with Lee Eunkyung, president of the Korean Association of Theater Critics, presenting "Detailed Strategies for Designing the Future of the Geochang International Theater Festival."

In particular, Lee Eunkyung emphasized the importance of establishing each theater's identity, expanding spaces and storytelling, strengthening local foundations, and enhancing audience services as key strategies for designing the future of the Geochang International Theater Festival. She conveyed to theater professionals and stakeholders attending the seminar the importance of continued interest and collaboration for the festival's success.


This seminar, held during the 34th Geochang International Theater Festival, provided many theater professionals and stakeholders attending the festival with an opportunity for unity and solidarity.


After the seminar, participants joined the "Water Bomb" event held at the riverside stage to foster camaraderie, and together watched the performance "Silence" by Germany's Bodecker & Neander, discussing the future of local theater festivals advancing onto the global stage.


One attendee said, "It was great to have theater professionals, stakeholders, and theater enthusiasts all come together during the Geochang International Theater Festival to share information and foster a sense of solidarity through the seminar," adding, "If the seminar is held every year during the festival, I believe even more theater professionals and stakeholders will visit Geochang."


Meanwhile, the Geochang International Theater Festival is operating various side events, performances, and food trucks where visitors and vacationers can relax and enjoy the festival in the cool shade despite the hot weather.
