12 Cleaning Robots Deployed at Incheon International Airport Terminal
Marosol announced on the 5th that it will deploy 12 Gausium cleaning robots at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Incheon Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 cover a total area of 900,000㎡, with the boarding areas alone spanning 167,000㎡, requiring extensive cleaning. Each area has different access permissions, making cleaning challenging. Additionally, there is a high volume of passengers including arrivals, departures, and transit travelers, and the airport operates year-round without any holidays. For these reasons, cleaning robots were introduced to improve cleaning efficiency, but there were limitations as cleaning staff had to ride and operate the robots manually.
The cleaning robots Marosol is deploying at Incheon Airport this time include eight Gausium Ecobot VC40 units capable of powerful dry cleaning and four large cleaning robots SC75 that can perform both dry and wet cleaning. The VC40 cleans carpeted floors, while the SC75 cleans marble floors.
These cleaning robots are enhanced with the Solink heterogeneous robot integrated control solution, allowing remote designation of cleaning zones and issuing work commands to perform cleaning at scheduled times. It is also possible to deploy multiple robots simultaneously in areas with severe contamination that require rapid cleaning. When encountering people or obstacles during cleaning, the robots automatically avoid them, reducing the risk of safety accidents. Furthermore, if a cleaning robot malfunctions, the issue can be immediately detected for prompt remote support, and if necessary, Marosol’s robot experts can be quickly dispatched to take appropriate measures.
Through this, Marosol’s cleaning robots will clean large areas at Incheon Airport, which previously required human cleaners to cover wide zones, allowing existing cleaning staff to focus only on areas difficult for robots to handle. This is expected to improve cleaning efficiency and enhance the working environment for cleaning staff. Kim Min-kyo, CEO of Marosol, said, “Incheon Airport is always ranked among the top in global excellent airport rankings and is an important place that shapes the first impression of our country.” He added, “We hope that the impression of Incheon Airport will improve further with Marosol’s Solink-enhanced cleaning robots.”
