Rumors Spread After Tottenham-Munich Friendly on the 3rd
"A Crime That Damages Son Heung-min's Honor and Image"
Soccer player Son Heung-min (32, Tottenham Hotspur) recently announced legal action regarding rumors about his visit to a club in Gangnam.
On the 4th, Son Heung-min's agency, Son and Football Limited, stated, "There was absolutely no visit or payment made by Son Heung-min at any club, and we inform you that this is a clear falsehood."
Previously, an online community post claimed that Son Heung-min visited a club in Gangnam after a friendly match against Bayern Munich held recently in Seoul and paid tens of millions of won for drinks. The post included the club's name and specific details about the drink expenses. Upon seeing this, netizens left critical comments about Son Heung-min.

However, the agency said, "After verifying the facts, it was confirmed that the club's MDs (sales staff) spread false information to promote their establishment," adding, "Their actions constitute a crime that damages the honor and image of Son Heung-min, who is a public figure aware of his social responsibilities and leads a restrained life." They further stated, "We plan to take legal action against the club and the MDs involved as soon as possible."
The agency also said, "Recently, many malicious falsehoods have been spread as if they were true by the club MDs and others, along with actions and comments that exceed what a public figure like the player can tolerate. We have judged that we can no longer overlook this," emphasizing, "We will never tolerate any acts that infringe on the rights of Son Heung-min, including spreading false information, creating malicious rumors, and posting malicious comments, and we will take strict measures without any settlement or leniency."
Meanwhile, Son Heung-min participated in the friendly match between Tottenham and Munich of the Coupang Play Series held on June 3 at the Seoul Sangam World Cup Stadium.
The match attracted great attention from fans as it was the first confrontation wearing their club uniforms between Tottenham's forward Son Heung-min, a key figure in both offense and defense for the Korean national soccer team, and Munich's defender Kim Min-jae. The match ended with Tottenham losing to Munich 1-2.
