Comprehensive Program from Solar System Theory Education to Observation Practice
Conducted in 4 Sessions, Providing Diverse Learning Opportunities to Enhance Curiosity about Space Science
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) held a summer vacation special lecture solar observation experience program at Mangwoo History and Culture Park on the 30th of last month.
This education program is a solar observation experience program for teenagers on summer vacation, designed to provide residents with an opportunity to observe celestial bodies in the city and to enhance the image of Mangwoo History and Culture Park as an educational space.
The special lectures will be held a total of four times until August 20, consisting of ▲theoretical education about the solar system ▲Q&A ▲training on how to use astronomical telescopes ▲observation of sunspots on the sun.
Since March, the district has been operating the celestial observation experience program twice a month, on the second Thursday and fourth Saturday. Utilizing the geographical characteristics of Mangwoo History and Culture Park, which has low light pollution, participants can observe celestial bodies such as the moon and planets in the night sky. External instructors are invited to provide more professional education to the participating students.
The celestial observation program, which runs until November, targets families including teenagers with up to 40 participants per session, and there is no separate participation fee. Applications can be made on the Mangwoo History and Culture Park website.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I am truly pleased to conduct the solar observation experience program at Mangwoo History and Culture Park, a museum where modern and contemporary history lives,” and added, “We will continue to develop various programs to help children nurture their dreams and hopes.”
