The match was decided by 4.9 mm. Both archers scored 10 points in the final shoot-off, but Kim Woo-jin's arrow was 4.9 mm closer to the center of the target, securing the gold medal.

Korean archery won gold medals in all events at this competition: men's and women's team events, mixed team event, and men's and women's individual events. On the 28th of last month, the women's team consisting of Lim Si-hyun (Korea National Sport University), Jeon Hun-young (Incheon Metropolitan City Hall), and Nam Soo-hyun (Suncheon City Hall) won the first archery gold medal in the team event, establishing a record of 10 consecutive victories. Then, on the 29th, the men's team of Kim Woo-jin, Lee Woo-seok (Kolon), and Kim Je-deok (Yecheon County Office) achieved a three-peat in the men's team event. On the 2nd of this month, Lim Si-hyun and Kim Woo-jin achieved back-to-back golds in the mixed team event. Following that, Lim Si-hyun on the 3rd and Kim Woo-jin on this day each won medals in the individual events, becoming triple gold medalists.

This marks the first time in history that all five gold medals in archery were swept. The last time all archery events were dominated was at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, where four gold medals were at stake, eight years ago. Originally, Korea aimed for five gold medals in total at this Olympics, but they achieved this goal solely in archery.

Kim Woo-jin, who won gold in the men's team and mixed team events, became the third Olympic archery triple gold medalist following An San (Gwangju Bank) from the Tokyo Olympics and Lim Si-hyun (Korea National Sport University) from this competition. Among male athletes, he is the first ever Olympic archery triple gold medalist.

With this gold medal, Kim Woo-jin has won a total of five Olympic gold medals, setting the record for the most individual Olympic gold medals in Korea across both Summer and Winter Games. He also won gold medals in the team events at the Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo Olympics.

Meanwhile, Lee Woo-seok, who lost to Kim Woo-jin in the semifinals and competed in the bronze medal match, defeated Germany's Florian Unruh to win the bronze medal.
