A Girl Who Looks Like Me on TikTok Turns Out to Be My Long-Lost Twin... What's the Story?

Two Girls Who Met by Chance Revealed as Adopted Twins
Up to 100,000 Babies Illegally Traded in Georgia

The story of twins who were separated at birth and reunited after 20 years through TikTok has become a hot topic.

On the 3rd (local time), the New York Post reported the story of a 19-year-old girl named Ellen Deisadze from the Republic of Georgia in Eastern Europe.

In 2022, while watching TikTok, Ellen discovered a girl named Anna Panchulidze who looked exactly like her. Curious, Ellen contacted Anna, and since they were both 19 years old, the two quickly felt a bond and became close friends.

However, it was revealed that they were not only similar in appearance but were actually identical twin sisters who had been illegally adopted.

With the help of Tamuna Museridze, a journalist from Georgia and the administrator of the Facebook group "I am Searching," Ellen and Anna were able to undergo DNA testing. Museridze created this group after discovering she had been illegally adopted while sorting through her late mother’s belongings in 2016, and she has helped hundreds of families reunite. However, it is known that she has not yet found her own biological family.

Subsequently, Museridze investigated kidnapping cases that occurred from the early 1950s to 2005 and uncovered that hospitals, orphanages, and adoption agencies in Georgia colluded to systematically sell up to 100,000 babies. The British BBC also covered this issue in the documentary "Georgia’s Stolen Children."

Ellen’s mother said, “After learning that we could not have children one year after getting married, my husband and I decided to adopt,” adding, “However, the waiting list was so long that adopting from an orphanage was practically impossible.”

She continued, “Then we heard that a local hospital was offering a six-month-old baby for adoption for a fee, so we adopted Ellen,” and stated, “We never suspected anything illegal was involved.”

Anna’s mother also revealed, “At that time, adopting someone required a long wait, and my husband and I waited six years before adopting Anna,” adding, “We had no knowledge of illegal adoption and could never have imagined such a thing.”

Anna expressed her feelings, saying, “I had a happy childhood, but all my past felt like a deception,” and “It was difficult to accept the reality that the people who raised me for 18 years were not my biological parents.”

Ellen said, “Perhaps our biological parents don’t even know we exist because of the hospital’s lie that the baby died right after birth,” and added, “It would be really great to find our parents and tell them the truth.”

It is known that Ellen and Anna are grateful to their adoptive parents but hope to reunite with their biological parents.
