On the 3rd (Korean time), Kim Yuro finished the men's individual road race held around Trocad?ro Square in Paris, France, with a time of 6 hours 39 minutes 27 seconds, ranking 65th overall.

Although 91 cyclists participated in the event, 13 of them withdrew. Kim Yuro placed 65th among the 78 cyclists who completed the race.

The cycling road race course this year passed through famous Paris landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Palace of Versailles, and the Louvre Museum, offering many sights. However, it was notorious for being the longest Olympic course ever at 273 km and featuring a record 13 mountain terrains.

Kim Yuro previously won gold medals in Madison and Points Race at the 2020 Asian Track Cycling Championships. At the Hangzhou Asian Games held last September, he teamed up with Shin Dongin (Gangjin County Office) to win a silver medal in the Madison event. In June this year, he also won the 158 km race at the Asian Road Cycling Championships.

However, the long distance of 273 km with repeated high-altitude climbs across 13 mountain sections, combined with the heatwave, posed a considerable challenge for Kim Yuro.

The gold medal in this event was won by Belgium's Remco Evenepoel, who finished in 6 hours 19 minutes 34 seconds. The silver and bronze medals went to France's Valentin Madouas (6 hours 20 minutes 45 seconds) and Christopher Laporte (6 hours 20 minutes 5 seconds), respectively.
