Archery national team 'eldest sister' Jeon Hun-young (Incheon City Hall) advanced to the quarterfinals of the women's individual archery event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
On the 3rd, Jeon Hun-young defeated Taiwan's Lei Chien-ying 6-4 (27-28 28-26 28-25 25-29 17-25) in the round of 16 of the women's individual archery event held at Les Invalides in Paris, France.
Having previously won the gold medal in the women's team archery event alongside Lim Si-hyun (Korea National Sport University) and Nam Soo-hyun (Suncheon City Hall), Jeon Hun-young is now challenging for a double crown in the women's individual event.
Jeon Hun-young's next opponent is Elif Gokir from Turkey, who advanced by defeating Japan's Noda Satsuki 6-4.
Korean archery has never missed the gold medal in the women's individual event since the 2012 London Games. The archery national team has secured all three gold medals awarded so far in this competition.
If a winner emerges in the women's individual event and the men's individual event, which concludes on the 4th, Korea is expected to achieve a historic sweep of all five Olympic archery gold medals.
So far, all six male and female representatives have won their individual matches.
