Maintained Continuously for 18 Years Since 2006

Yangsan City, Gyeongnam has been re-designated as a "Lifelong Learning City" in the second cycle re-designation evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education in 2024.

Yangsan City Continues Its Status as a Leading Lifelong Learning City Yangsan Jihye Maru (Yangsan City Lifelong Learning Center).

Since being designated as a Lifelong Learning City in 2006, Yangsan has continued to maintain its status as a leading city for lifelong learning for its citizens by being re-designated in this year's second cycle evaluation.

The re-designation evaluation targets all Lifelong Learning Cities nationwide that have held the designation for more than four years. Every three years, the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education assess the city's lifelong learning promotion system, project operation, and outcomes to determine whether to renew the designation.

In this re-designation evaluation, Yangsan received high marks for its efforts to strengthen the foundation of a Lifelong Learning City, such as the construction of Yangsan Jihemaru (Yangsan Lifelong Learning Center), the assignment of dedicated staff to each learning center, the enhancement of the Lifelong Learning Center's website functionality and integrated information provision to improve user convenience and activate lifelong learning, and the establishment of a unique, comprehensive lifelong learning system in Yangsan through delivery lectures, lifelong learning village schools, happiness learning centers, and the construction of new learning centers.

Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "The opening of Yangsan Jihemaru, which integrates lifelong education and reading, has proven that Yangsan is a leading city in expanding the base of lifelong learning for its citizens," adding, "Building on the achievement of being re-designated as a Lifelong Learning City, we will continue to usher in a new era of customized lifelong learning for our citizens."
