"I Love Black Jobs"... US Gymnastics Queen Biles Explains Why She Targeted Trump

Simone Biles, the "Gymnastics Queen" of the United States who made a spectacular comeback by winning two gold medals in the individual all-around and team events at the 2024 Paris Olympics, criticized former President Donald Trump's remarks that sparked controversy over "Black job" discrimination.

On the 2nd (local time), Biles wrote on her X (formerly Twitter) account, "I love my 'black job'."

The phrase "black job" became controversial for racial discrimination when former President Trump said during the presidential candidate TV debate with President Joe Biden in June, "Immigrants are taking Black jobs and Hispanic jobs (in the U.S.)."

Later, on the 31st of last month, at an event hosted by the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), Trump faced heavy criticism for failing to provide a satisfactory explanation or express regret when asked by the moderator what "Black jobs" meant.

In response, Biles commented on a post by singer-songwriter Ricky Davila on X that said, "The 'overwhelming gymnast' is Simone Biles' Black job," writing, "I love my Black job," delivering a blunt rebuttal to Trump's remarks, which could be interpreted as implying that jobs held by Black or Latino people are separate.

Meanwhile, Biles, who rose to become the world's top gymnastics star by winning four gold medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics, faced severe stress and withdrew from most events at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021). However, she reaffirmed her top form at this Paris Olympics, reclaiming her throne as the queen.
