3 Million Entered 'Lotto Subscription' Winner Announcement with 'Smishing Alert'
Winner Announcement for Dongtan Lotte Castle Subscription at 8 AM on the 2nd
Security Authorities Urge Use of 'Smishing Verification Service'
As the non-priority subscription winning day for 'Dongtan Station Lotte Castle' in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, which attracted nearly 3 million applicants, arrives, security authorities are raising their alert level against smishing (financial crimes using text messages). On the 2nd, the winning day, the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) announced that it has set keywords related to subscriptions and winning in the pre-screening of text messages likely to be smishing and is monitoring the occurrence of smishing crimes.
Since about 2,944,780 people applied for the non-priority subscription for one unit of 84㎡ exclusive area at Dongtan Station Lotte Castle, involving roughly 6% of the entire population, there are concerns that smishing crime attempts targeting this event will also be frequent. A related official told Yonhap News Agency, "If you receive a winning message, you can easily and accurately verify its authenticity by using the 'Smishing Verification Service.' If it is determined to be a smishing attempt, it greatly helps security authorities respond by blocking similar text messages," he emphasized.

You can check whether a message is smishing by adding 'Boho Nara' as a friend on the KakaoTalk channel and sending the text message you received for verification. However, the 'Report as Spam' function on the mobile phone's text message reception screen does not provide authenticity verification. Subscription applicants hoping to win should consider any messages received after 8 a.m. on the 2nd as smishing, since the winners of the 'Lotto Subscription' were announced at 8 a.m. on the 2nd.
On this day, the Korea Real Estate Board notified the winners of the non-priority subscription for 'Dongtan Station Lotte Castle' in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, and the canceled contract subscription for 'Hoban Summit Mokdong' in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, of their winning status. The winning status can also be checked on the subscription homepage's 'Winning Inquiry' page as of midnight on the same day, and applicants who consented to receive prior text messages will receive a separate message at 8 a.m. If you did not receive a message, it means you were not selected.
