Park Sung-taek, New First Vice Minister of Industry... A Veteran Bureaucrat Experienced in 'Industry, Trade, and Energy' Sectors

Park Seong-taek, the newly appointed 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is a seasoned bureaucrat who has held key positions across the industrial, trade, and energy sectors within the ministry.


The Presidential Office announced on the 2nd that Park Seong-taek, the Presidential Office's Secretary for Industrial Policy, has been nominated as the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.


The Presidential Office stated, "Having held major roles in the industrial, trade, and energy sectors within the ministry and recognized for his outstanding work capabilities, he consecutively served as the Secretary for Policy Coordination and Secretary for Industrial Policy at the Presidential Office. Based on his swift situational analysis and extensive experience in handling various issues, he is the right person to effectively promote national tasks in the industrial sector such as export and investment promotion, strengthening advanced industrial capabilities, and establishing supply chains and economic security, thereby revitalizing the real economy."


Vice Minister Park is from Geoje, Gyeongnam, and graduated from Masan Changshin High School and Seoul National University’s College of Law, Department of Public Law. He entered public service after passing the 39th Administrative Examination in 1995. Since then, he has served in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy as Director of the Electric Power Industry Division, Chief Secretary to the Minister, Director of Trade Policy Division, Director of Investment Policy, Director of Energy Industry Policy, Director of Industrial Policy, and Director of Trade Security Policy.


Under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, he joined the Presidential Office in January last year and served as Secretary for Policy Coordination and Secretary for Industrial Policy. Vice Minister Park is highly regarded for his expertise in policies, having held key positions in the industrial, trade, and energy sectors within the ministry.
