A story has emerged about a woman who took a taxi from Suncheon to Changwon late at night and fled without paying the 160,000 won fare.

On the 31st of last month, JTBC's 'Case Manager' introduced a report from taxi driver Mr. A. On the night of the 28th of the same month, Mr. A was driving at night when he picked up a female passenger, Ms. B, who was going from Suncheon, Jeollanam-do to Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do. At that time, Mr. A explained that a surcharge would apply, and Ms. B replied, "I can pay up to 200,000 won," so he headed to Changwon.

Upon arrival at the destination, Mr. A informed Ms. B that the fare was 164,590 won. Suddenly, Ms. B gave various excuses such as "My phone is suspended" and "The data isn't working well," and said, "I will transfer the money to your account within 5 minutes after I get home." After hesitating for a moment, Mr. A trusted her and let her go home. However, Ms. B later cut off contact.

Following this, Mr. A reported the incident to the police and sent a message to the passenger saying he had "written a statement." Only then did Ms. B reply, claiming "I sent the money," but this was also a lie.

Mr. A lamented, "The passenger made an excuse that she sent the money to the wrong account and promised to send it by 2 p.m. on the 31st of last month, but the payment was never made."

Netizens responded to the story with sympathy, saying things like, "Because of people like that, those who show kindness have decreased," "Life is already hard enough, and now this too," and "It seems like taxi drivers will distrust passengers from now on."

Riding a taxi without paying is punishable by a fine of up to 100,000 won under the Minor Offenses Act.
