The 'Busan Roundhouse Kick Incident' is being made into a movie. Jeon Hyo-sung, a former member of the girl group Secret, has been considered for the lead role.
On the 1st, OSEN reported, "Jeon Hyo-sung's agency, Alien Company, has received and is reviewing an offer to appear in the movie tentatively titled 'Inevitable to Become a Devil,' which deals with the 'Busan Roundhouse Kick Incident.'"
Jeon Hyo-sung was offered the role of a victim of a 'random assault crime' in the film. Director Lim Yong-jae, who has written scripts and directed several works such as 'Holding King Kong,' 'Hwanggu,' and 'Can You See Only Me,' is known to be writing the screenplay and directing the movie. Filming is scheduled to begin soon, aiming for release next year.
The victim of the incident is also planned to participate as a consultant for the screenplay.
The Busan Roundhouse Kick Incident occurred on May 22, 2022, at the shared entrance of an officetel in Seomyeon, Jin-gu, Busan, where a man in his 30s, Mr. A, chased and indiscriminately assaulted a woman in her 20s, Ms. B, whom he did not know, with a roundhouse kick. The release of CCTV footage capturing the incident and the perpetrator's shameless attitude without remorse sparked public outrage.
Following the news, netizens expressed various reactions such as "It's good that it's being made into a movie," "Can that incident fill two hours?" and "Was Jeon Hyo-sung good at acting?"
