With the city being selected for three public projects this year, it will jointly cooperate with these companies to promote the projects.

This agreement includes ▲smooth execution of the 2024 robot public projects ▲discovery of new national fund projects ▲establishment of a platform for information exchange and robot technology exchange ▲training of local talent ▲active cooperation in administrative and financial support when settling in Suncheon and hiring local talent.

In addition to the companies participating in the public projects, Son Woong-hee, President of the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, attended the ceremony to encourage Suncheon City’s leading robot projects and graced the event.

Lee Young-min, team leader of the Korea Robot Industry Association, explained domestic and international robot industry trends and the direction of fostering the robot industry in Suncheon City to aid understanding.

The city stated that through this agreement, it has taken the first step toward the robot companion city strategy it has dreamed of since 2022.

Furthermore, it expressed a bold determination to establish Suncheon as the mecca of the Honam region’s robot industry by building a close cooperative system with companies, discovering a unique robot industry ecosystem model exclusive to Suncheon City, and attracting and nurturing robot companies with high growth potential.

Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu of Suncheon said, “Robots have now become an essential era, not a choice for us,” and added, “We will strive to become Jeollanam-do’s representative robot companion city through Suncheon City’s independent robot fostering projects amid the flow of advanced industries.”

He also said, “We will work together with companies to discover various jobs through robots.”

The three national fund projects selected for Suncheon City this year are ▲Large-scale Convergence Robot Demonstration Project (Robot Education Science Center Construction Project) by NeuroMeka Co., Ltd. ▲Regulatory Innovation Robot Demonstration Project (Expansion of Care Robots for People with Developmental Disabilities) by RoboCare Co., Ltd., Y.Dots Co., Ltd., and Mindro Co., Ltd. ▲Robot Creative Education Project (Visiting Robot Creative Classroom), which was selected as an excellent project last year, will be conducted by Future Convergence Education, a Suncheon-based company.
