The Korea Fire Insurance Association announced on the 1st that, with the support of the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA), it will open big data in the field of fire safety to the private sector. As part of NIA's '2024 High-Demand Data Expansion Project,' the association will serve as the data provision center for the Fire Safety Big Data Platform.
We already live with data, such as using smartphones for navigation and news. As data becomes increasingly important in daily life, effectively utilizing data has become a key factor in enhancing national competitiveness. The '2024 High-Demand Data Expansion Project' aims to secure high-quality data that can be used across various fields in response to these societal demands, and through this, develop new services and revitalize the economy. The project period is until December 2024, and the entire dataset will be opened after October.
Accordingly, the association plans to open a total of 12 types of fire safety data, including independently built fire occurrence data, surrounding risk information, and fire risk levels, through the 'Fire Safety Big Data Platform.'
An association official stated, "In cooperation with the Ministry of Science and ICT, the National Fire Agency, NIA, and related industries, we will create a fire safety big data ecosystem and support the development of various innovative services such as AI-based fire risk assessment." He added, "Through this, we will advance disaster prevention systems for the safety of the public and create a safer society."
