On the 31st, Han Juyeop competed in the men's 90kg round of 32 judo match held at the Champ de Mars arena in Paris, France, and secured an ippon victory by successfully executing a shoulder choke against world No. 82 Karmel Kone (Burkina Faso).
About one minute into the match, Han Juyeop seized the moment when his opponent lost balance after failing a throw. He moved behind him and used the opponent’s gi collar to choke him, forcing a tap out.
As of the previous day, Korean judo had earned one silver medal (women’s 57kg Huh Mimi) and one bronze medal (men’s 81kg Lee Junhwan).
