UN Secretary-General Urges Party Officials with Appointment Authority under Leader to Resign Collectively

Seo Beom-su, Secretary General of the People Power Party, demanded on the 31st, "For new changes, the party leader should request a collective resignation from party officials who are under his authority to appoint and dismiss."

Secretary General Seo made this statement to reporters after meeting with Representative Han at the central party office in Yeouido, Seoul, in the afternoon. Representative Han and Secretary General Seo discussed whether to request a collective resignation from party officials appointed before Han's inauguration.

Party officials who are under the authority to appoint and recommend by the party leader include high-ranking officials such as the Secretary General, Chief Secretary to the Party Leader, Chairperson of the Policy Committee, appointed Supreme Council members, and the Director of the Yeouido Research Institute. Earlier, Representative Han appointed Park Jeong-ha, a close associate, as Chief Secretary to the Party Leader on the 25th as his first personnel appointment, and Secretary General Seo on the 29th. The appointed Supreme Council member position is currently vacant, and the Chairperson of the Policy Committee is Jeong Jeom-sik, a pro-Yoon faction lawmaker appointed about two months ago, who remains in office.

On the same day, Representative Han met with Chairperson Jeong at the party office to discuss measures regarding the TMON and WEMAKEPRICE incidents. It appears that Chairperson Jeong's position was also mentioned during this meeting. Previously, President Yoon met with Representative Han the day before and said, "It is important to broadly embrace various people and make them Representative Han's people," and supported him by saying, "(Regarding party official reorganization) the party leader should handle it as he sees fit."

When asked by reporters when the next Chairperson of the Policy Committee would be appointed, Secretary General Seo replied, "We will have to receive the collective resignation letters and organize things accordingly once that is done."
