Pilot Operation This Year, Full Implementation Next Year
The Chungnam-style carbon-neutral points system, "Tansoupshu," will be implemented.
On the 31st, Governor Kim Tae-heum signed an agreement with the mayors and county heads of 15 cities and counties, as well as the head of the NH Nonghyup Bank Chungnam branch, to establish the Chungnam-style carbon-neutral points system mobile application, "Tansoupshu."
Through this, they agreed to work together to spread a culture of everyday carbon-neutral practices, such as issuing electronic receipts, using public transportation, and organizing electronic mail.
By practicing carbon neutrality through Tansoupshu, each individual can receive up to 100,000 KRW per year in local currency. Benefits also include up to a 0.1% reduction in NH Nonghyup Bank loan interest rates and up to a 70% discount on currency exchange fees.
The province plans to run a pilot program until December and then fully implement the system starting next year.
Governor Kim Tae-heum said, "The government is also operating a carbon points system, but it is centered around the Seoul metropolitan area, and the registration process is complicated, so the participation rate is only 2.6%." He added, "Since the Chungnam-style carbon points system was designed to address these issues, please encourage more residents to participate."
He also said, "To reduce carbon emissions, please refrain from using fireworks at festivals and other events," and added, "In the future, we will evaluate carbon-neutral practices by city and county and provide special awards."
