Comprehensive Inspection of Disaster Prevention Facilities at Three High-Density Areas in Masanhappo-gu During Vacation Season

Cho Myungrae, the Second Vice Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, conducted on-site inspections of densely populated summer vacation areas and disaster prevention facilities in Masanhappo-gu to prepare for heatwaves and typhoons.

On the 30th, Vice Mayor Cho inspected the flood barrier facilities at Masanman Disaster Prevention Hill, a major disaster prevention facility. The 200-meter-long hydraulic flood barrier, installed along the coastal line of Happo Waterfront Park in 2018, was designed to prevent damage from typhoons and tidal waves. He emphasized the importance of continuous inspections, as the flood barrier is a key facility for protecting the property and safety of merchants at Masan Fish Market.

He then visited the drainage pump station to check the operational status of the facilities and the emergency generator. As the facility is directly related to flood damage, he urged the relevant departments and staff to ensure thorough management and maintenance of the drainage pump station.

Earlier, on June 29, Vice Mayor Cho visited Gwangam Beach, which opened for the season, to inspect the deployment of safety personnel and the condition of aging facilities to prevent water-related accidents. He asked on-site staff to ensure that Gwangam Beach, Changwon’s only beach, remains a safe place for visitors to enjoy their summer vacation.

Vice Mayor Cho stated, "Recently, unpredictable weather changes caused by abnormal climate patterns require special attention," and added, "We will do our utmost to minimize damage to citizens from natural disasters during the summer and respond quickly in case of emergencies."
