A senior employee scolding a new hire for ordering pizza without adding cheese crust has sparked controversy online.

On the 26th, a post titled "New hire quitting because of pizza" was uploaded on the workplace community Blind. The author, Mr. A, who works at a large corporation, explained the situation: "During lunch, the employees decided to order pizza together, and the new hire took the order and placed it."

However, after the pizza arrived, a senior employee began to scold the new hire. In this office, it is an unspoken rule to add cheese crust when ordering pizza, but the new hire was unaware and did not include it in the order.

Despite the new hire’s apology, saying "I'm sorry," the senior continued to criticize. He said things like, "It tastes better with cheese crust," "Why did you make the new hire order this?" "I can't eat the dough without cheese," and "Cheese crust doesn't cost that much," relentlessly reprimanding the new hire.

Hearing this, the new hire became tearful and eventually said, "I will quit."

Mr. A concluded his post by saying, "The senior was a bit harsh, but quitting over this seems excessive. What should I do?"

Most netizens criticized the senior employee. They responded with comments such as, "If you like cheese that much, you should have ordered it yourself," "It's better not to work under such a boss," "The title is wrong. It's not quitting because of pizza but because of the boss," "Quitting over this is a bit much; the author is strange too," and "They should have informed the new hire to order cheese."

On the other hand, some criticized the new hire, saying, "Is quitting over that little scolding appropriate?" "Typical MZ generation," "Once you work longer, that kind of thing is nothing," and "They probably would have quit for other reasons anyway."
