Supply of Easy-to-Use Electric Vehicle Automatic Charging Solution Using Collaborative Robots
First Supply to Mapo Silver Care Center Aimed at Enhancing Convenience for Mobility-Disadvantaged Users
Doosan Robotics announced on the 30th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Seoul City Hall with Seoul Metropolitan Government, LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor Company·Kia, LS E-Link, and others to establish a "user-friendly electric vehicle charging infrastructure."
This agreement was prepared to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, aiming to promote the distribution of rapid chargers and charging stations designed to assist vulnerable road users.
Seoul Metropolitan Government will provide sites and administrative support, while Doosan Robotics will supply an automated charging solution that integrates collaborative robots with LG Electronics' 100kW and 200kW rapid electric vehicle chargers.

The electric vehicle automated charging solution uses a 3D vision camera attached to the collaborative robot to identify the location of the vehicle's charging port. The collaborative robot then connects the charging cable to the port to start charging. Once charging is complete, the robot detaches the charger from the port and automatically returns it to its original position.
Generally, rapid electric vehicle charging systems have larger and heavier cables compared to slow chargers, making them difficult to handle. Therefore, the automated charging solution can enhance charging convenience for vulnerable road users such as women, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
Doosan Robotics and LG Electronics will supply the first electric vehicle automated charging solution to the Mapo Silver Care Center and plan to sequentially install the solution at 10 sites designated by Seoul Metropolitan Government, including community centers and welfare facilities, by 2026.
CEO Ryu Jeong-hoon said, "This MOU with Seoul Metropolitan Government is expected to be an opportunity to expand our business beyond the pilot operations currently being conducted by Doosan Robotics and LG Electronics," adding, "We will actively supply the electric vehicle automated charging solution in line with Seoul's charging station distribution policy to enhance transportation convenience for citizens."
