Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) has been hosting the "8th Seongbuk Cultural Vacance" since the 26th at Seongbuk Elementary School, Ui Stream Multipurpose Plaza, and the vacant lot in front of Gireum 1-dong Complex 7.
The Seongbuk Cultural Vacance is a festival that transforms elementary school playgrounds or local idle spaces into water parks during the vacation period, allowing people to conveniently and affordably enjoy a vacation in the city. With pools tailored to the characteristics of each space, various food options, performances, and play experiences, it provides great fun not only for children but also for adults, attracting more than 10,000 visitors annually.
At the Seongbuk Elementary School playground, a large 26-meter slide, bigger and wider than last year, has been installed, expected to be a special gift for the children visiting the event. The operation runs from the 26th to the 30th of this month.
Water play areas will be operated at Ui Stream Multipurpose Plaza and the vacant lot at Gireum 1-dong Complex 7 from the 2nd to the 6th of next month. Both locations are within walking distance for nearby residents, and it is a spectacular sight to see families wearing tubes heading to the festival site.
To address the issue of overpriced food at the festival, the district limits food prices to under 5,000 won and has deployed 50 safety personnel at each event site to strengthen safety management.
The operating hours are from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with admission starting at 10:00 AM. Pool users must wear swimming caps, and the use of shade tents and personal tents is prohibited, though mats are allowed. It is recommended to use nearby public parking lots or public transportation. Residents of Seongbuk-gu with identification can enter for free, while residents from other areas are charged a 2,000 won fee per person.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, "We are making every effort to ensure the safety and enjoyment of visitors to the Seongbuk Cultural Vacance, the representative summer festival of the Gangbuk area, including water quality management and on-site safety." He added, "We have carefully prepared measures such as food price limits, so we hope many people will visit and enjoy Seongbuk’s special summer."
