Algeria Team Defeated 2-0 in Group B Opening Match
The pair of Chae Yujeong (29) and Seo Seungjae (27), who won the mixed doubles world championship in badminton last year and took bronze at the Hangzhou Asian Games, smoothly passed the first hurdle of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Ranked 3rd in the world, Chae Yujeong and Seo Seungjae easily defeated the Algerian pair Koseila Mameri and Tatina Mameri, ranked 48th in the world, 2-0 (21-10, 21-7) in just 30 minutes during their first match in Group B of the 2024 Paris Olympic badminton mixed doubles event held at Paris Arena Porte de la Chapelle, France, on the 27th (local time).
In badminton mixed doubles, four groups of four teams each compete in a round-robin group stage, and the top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinal knockout stage.
Chae Yujeong and Seo Seungjae will face the Dutch pair Robin Tabeling and Selena Piek, ranked 19th in the world, on the afternoon of the 28th, and on the 29th, they will compete against the Thai pair Dechapol Prawatnakul and Sapsiree Taerattanachai, ranked 6th in the world.
