Direct Meal Service Provided to 500 Seniors at Jeonggwan Senior Welfare Center
Gijang County in Busan announced on the 27th that County Governor Jung Jongbok recently participated in a meal service volunteer activity at the Jeonggwan Senior Welfare Center in celebration of Jungbok (the second hottest day of summer), serving local seniors.
On the 25th, Governor Jung personally served Gomtang to about 500 seniors who visited the welfare center for Jungbok, checking on their health and well-being during the hot summer season.
Jongbok Jeong, the mayor of Gijang County, is volunteering to serve meals at the Jeonggwan Senior Welfare Center.
He also expressed his gratitude to the volunteer members of the Jeonggwan-eup Dongil 1st Apartment Women's Association, who participated in the event, and to Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Kori Nuclear Power Headquarters, which sponsored 500 servings of Gomtang.
Governor Jung Jongbok said, "I hope this Gomtang sharing event will be a great source of strength for seniors who are exhausted by the unusually hot summer," and added, "I will continue to listen to the voices of our residents and strive to improve the welfare of the local community."
The Jeonggwan Senior Welfare Center operates various programs to enhance the quality of life for seniors.
These include: lifelong education programs such as hobbies, leisure, and health promotion; operation of a senior cafeteria; health lifestyle support projects such as a health promotion room; expert counseling and information services in various fields; and social participation and rights advocacy projects. Thanks to these efforts, the center was awarded the Grand Prize in the Institution Category at the 12th Busan Lifelong Learning Awards in 2023.
