Court: "The Guilt of Forcibly Molesting a Fellow Police Officer Is Not Light"
A former police officer who sexually harassed a female officer has been sentenced to a suspended prison term.
On the 26th, Judge Jeong Eunyoung, presiding judge of the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Court, sentenced Mr. A (60), who was indicted and detained on charges of indecent assault, to 10 months in prison with a two-year suspension.
Mr. A, who was serving as the head of a police precinct in Cheonan, Chungnam, was brought to trial on charges of touching the body of a female officer sitting next to him during a staff dinner at a restaurant on March 26.
Additionally, after returning to the precinct following the dinner, he was also charged with harassing another female officer.
Judge Jeong Eunyoung explained the sentencing, stating, "It is not a light crime to forcibly molest a fellow police officer while holding a position that requires a high level of law-abiding awareness and integrity as a police official. However, considering that the degree of molestation was not particularly severe and that settlements were reached with the victims, who did not wish for punishment, the sentence was determined accordingly."
