Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) has completed the installation of the nation’s first-ever “Apartment Complex Common Entrance Free Pass” system in 14 complexes within the district, and it is now being fully implemented. The Apartment Complex Common Entrance Free Pass is a system that allows the police to quickly open the common entrance doors using a wireless remote control during emergency dispatches.

Recently, there was a case where police and firefighters responding to a fire report were unable to open the common entrance door and ultimately had to break the entire door down. With the implementation of the Free Pass, such incidents are expected to significantly decrease, protecting residents’ lives and property while greatly enhancing on-site response capabilities.

According to the Jungbu Police Station, officers welcomed the full implementation of the Free Pass, saying, “The system we had been waiting for on-site has finally started. Until now, we had to improvise to gain access, but now we no longer have to do that.”

The district plans to install the Free Pass in the remaining 15 complexes under the jurisdiction of the Jungbu Police Station by the end of this year. To this end, the district office and the police will work together to directly persuade residents and listen to their voices. Next year, the project will be expanded to include the jurisdiction of the Namdaemun Police Station.

Mayor Kim Gil-seong stated, “The Free Pass, launched through public-private-police cooperation, will now serve as a strong shield protecting our residents. We will continue to prioritize the safety of our residents and actively seek and implement various measures.”
