Project scale 460.1 billion KRW... Scheduled for Navy delivery in 2028
Hanwha Ocean has submitted a sole bid for the 'AOE-Ⅱ Class 2nd Naval Auxiliary Ship Construction Project' and has been selected as the preferred negotiation partner.
According to Hanwha Ocean on the 25th, the project scale is approximately 460.1 billion KRW, and after technical and condition negotiations, the contract will be signed next month. The AOE-Ⅱ naval auxiliary ship is scheduled to be delivered to the Navy in December 2028 after construction and sea trials.
The naval auxiliary ship is a warship that supplies ammunition, cargo, and fuel to vessels in operation at sea. It can supply while maneuvering at high speed like destroyers and frigates during operations.Hanwha Ocean plans to incorporate improvement requirements derived from the operation of the lead ship delivered to the Navy in 2018 into this auxiliary ship construction.
With a cargo capacity more than 2.3 times larger (about 10,000 tons) than the Cheonji-class (AOE-Ⅰ) and enhanced performance such as maneuvering speed, Hanwha Ocean expects to improve the operational sustainability of the Navy's mobile task force and expand maritime sovereignty areas.
A Hanwha Ocean official said, "Although naval auxiliary ships are difficult to build and other shipyards have avoided them, Hanwha Ocean decided to participate in the bid with a spirit of serving the nation through business for national defense and the safety of the people."
