On the afternoon of the 25th, the city of Busan signed an agreement at the International Conference Hall of City Hall to expand the provision of 'Family-Friendly Certification Company Benefits (Incentives)' in the Busan area.

A 'Family-Friendly Certified Company' refers to a system that grants certification to companies and public institutions that exemplary operate family-friendly policies such as flexible working hours and support for childbirth and childcare.


Certified companies and their employees receive various benefits from the government and local governments, including policy fund support, preferential treatment in government-supported projects, and discounts on accommodation and admission fees.


The city has been discovering various incentives to overcome low birth rates and spread a work-life balance culture in the private sector, and is currently providing benefits to 48 companies and institutions.


This agreement is the first of its kind in the country and was prepared to expand the 'Family-Friendly Certification Company Benefits (Incentives)' of Busan to employees of family-friendly certified companies in other cities and provinces.


With this agreement, more than 1,000 employees of family-friendly certified companies in five cities and provinces (Daegu, Gyeongbuk, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, and Jeju) will be able to receive 'Busan Family-Friendly Benefits (Incentives)'.


The five organizations in Busan participating in providing these benefits are: Sea Life Busan Aquarium, LCT Management, Jeil Air Travel Agency, Club The Oasis, and KidZania Busan.


Starting with this agreement, the city plans to expand the provision of incentives to other cities and provinces and strengthen cooperative networks so that family-friendly certified companies in Busan can also receive incentives from other regions.


In addition, the city plans to propose to the government improvements to the system so that all family-friendly certified companies can enjoy benefits anywhere nationwide.


Woo Miok, Director of the Women and Family Affairs Bureau, said, "I hope this agreement will serve as an opportunity to spread a culture of work-life balance and instill pride in employees of family-friendly certified companies," and added, "With the peak summer season approaching, I hope workers from family-friendly certified companies in other regions will visit Busan to fully enjoy their leisure and vacations. Our city will continue to strive to create a social environment that supports work-life balance."
