Hong Cheol-ho, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Presidential Secretariat, reported assets worth approximately 25.5 billion KRW, making him the highest-asset current senior public official.


The Government Public Officials Ethics Committee disclosed on the 26th through the official gazette the assets held by 74 senior public officials whose status changed between April 2 and May 1 this year.


Senior Secretary Hong's assets totaled 25,464,870,000 KRW, the largest amount. These include farmland and forest land in Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do under his name, a detached house in Cheongna-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon under his spouse's name, and a detached house jointly owned with his spouse in Madu-dong, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.


Hong, co-founder of Goobne Chicken, holds 393,600 unlisted shares (21,934,140,000 KRW) of Plus One Co., Ltd., which processes, manufactures, and distributes Goobne Chicken products, and reported 1,000 unlisted shares (55,720,000 KRW) of Plus One Co., Ltd. under his spouse's name.


Lee Cheol-soo, Chairman of Korea Polytechnics, reported assets worth 8,031,230,000 KRW, ranking second. He declared an officetel in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul under his name and land measuring 162㎡ in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul under his spouse's name, totaling 8,031,230,000 KRW.


Ko Young-sun, President of the Korea Educational Development Institute, reported assets of 5,028,810,000 KRW, ranking third.


Among retirees, Lee Gwan-seop, former Chief Secretary of the Presidential Office, was recorded as having the highest assets at 8,454,890,000 KRW.


Since his inauguration in January, Lee's assets increased by more than 600 million KRW within about three months, influenced by the sharp rise in the price of the Nine One Hannam apartment in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, jointly owned by him and his spouse.


Following him, former Bank of Korea Monetary Policy Committee members Seo Young-kyung and Cho Yoon-je reported assets of 7,382,260,000 KRW and 6,573,510,000 KRW respectively, ranking second and third among retirees.
