70 Billion Won Support Provided to 18 Cities and Counties Including Paju-si Affected by Heavy Rainfall

Gyeonggi Province will urgently provide 6.5 billion KRW from the provincial disaster management fund and 500 million KRW in special grants to 18 cities and counties in the province, including Paju City, which suffered damage from the heavy rains in July.

On the 25th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it conducted an emergency inspection of the damage caused by the heavy rains and decided to provide 1.9 billion KRW and 1 billion KRW respectively to Paju City and Anseong City, which were relatively severely affected, and to urgently support the other 16 cities and counties with amounts ranging from 500 million KRW to 100 million KRW depending on the scale of the damage.

The emergency restoration funds provided will be used to quickly restore urban functions and prevent further damage by carrying out emergency repairs of public facilities such as roads, rivers, and landslide disaster sites damaged by the heavy rains, thereby supporting residents in returning to their daily lives.

Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, said, "The most important thing is to support those affected by the heavy rain to quickly return to their daily lives," and urged, "Please carefully manage the use of all available resources to ensure that restoration is completed promptly and residents’ inconveniences are minimized."

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province recorded an average cumulative rainfall of 360.0mm from the 16th to the 24th. The area with the heaviest rainfall was Paju City (Josan-ri) with 763.5mm, followed by Yeoncheon County (Samgeori) with 681.0mm, and Dongducheon City (Sangpae-dong) with 595.0mm.

During this period, no casualties occurred, but there were approximately 279 cases of damage to public facilities such as rivers and roads.
