Aims, a specialized company in electric motorcycle battery subscription service (BaaS), announced on the 25th that it has been finally selected for the ‘2024 Supergap Startup 1000+ Project’.
The ‘Supergap Startup 1000+ Project’ is a program that selects competitive companies in 10 supergap fields such as eco-friendly energy, big data·AI, system semiconductors, space·aerospace·marine, and supports various commercialization means. It aims to foster deep-tech startups that will lead the global market. Aims was selected as a company in the ‘eco-friendly energy’ field among the 10 sectors.
Startups selected for this project will receive up to 1 billion KRW in commercialization and R&D funds over three years, along with various benefits such as technology development and export support.
Through this selection, Aims plans to accelerate the development of an eco-friendly electric two-wheeler standard battery exchange charging platform equipped with real-time battery control functions based on eMTC and expand its infrastructure.
An Aims representative said, “For sustainable growth in the eco-friendly mobility sector, efficient battery performance management and increased charging convenience are seen as key technological development issues. The electric two-wheeler market is expected to greatly alleviate user complaints about battery sharing following the announcement of the KS standard for standard batteries and exchangeable battery charging stations.”
They also expressed their ambition, stating, “By being selected for the Supergap Startup fostering project, we will strengthen our position in the BaaS platform business through professional workforce development and eMTC-based battery control, enhancing competitiveness in the domestic electric two-wheeler market and serving as a bridgehead for consumer entry.”
Meanwhile, Aims previously attracted investments from the Small and Medium Business Corporation and the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund in 2022. In 2024, it successfully secured an additional investment of 3.5 billion KRW and was selected as the 12th cohort of the IBK Bank startup fostering program ‘IBK Changgong Mapo’.
The ‘2024 Supergap Startup 1000+ Project’ selected this time is known to be hosted by Korea Electric Power Corporation.
