Jeju Beer is gaining momentum. This appears to reflect expectations that sales will increase due to the Olympic boost on top of the peak summer season driven by the Paris Olympics.
As of 1:38 PM on the 25th, Jeju Beer was trading at 1,068 KRW, up 39 KRW (3.79%) compared to the previous trading day.
The Paris Olympics will open at 3 AM on the 27th of this month, Korea time. This Olympics features 10,500 participants from 206 countries, with 32 sports and 329 events. Korea will have 143 national representatives competing in 22 sports.
Since many key Olympic events are expected to take place during early morning hours, industries such as beer, chicken, and convenience stores are mentioned as beneficiaries. A Jeju Beer official stated, "Summer beer sales increase by 20-30% compared to the off-season, and since the Paris Olympics start in July, expectations for an Olympic boost are high," adding, "We have signed a partnership agreement with China’s Hualun Beer, one of the largest liquor companies in the world, and began domestic distribution this month."
