Goryeong-gun Selected for Excellent Leading Project in Dementia Safe Village Contest

County Governor Lee Namcheol: "Creating a Dementia-Friendly Environment"

Goryeong County (Governor Lee Namcheol) announced on the 25th that it has been selected for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "2024 Outstanding Dementia Safe Village Leading Project," which aims to promote dementia-safe village initiatives based on the characteristics of the local community.

Goryeong County was selected in the "Social Participation of Dementia Patients" category, which focuses on creating a dementia-friendly community where patients, families, and residents can all feel safe and happy.

The county will provide opportunities for social participation and enhance emotional stability for residents, dementia patients, and their families in Huaam 1-ri, Unsu-myeon, which was designated as a dementia-safe village in 2024. This will be achieved through choir and ensemble programs operated over five months, fostering interaction among all participants and improving their quality of life.

In addition, in line with the village name Huaam ("Flower Rock"), the county will hold a small concert and art exhibition titled "Life on the Flower Road with Rhythm," supporting dementia patients and their families to interact with local residents and participate in community activities as members of the community.

Lee Namcheol, Governor of Goryeong County, stated, "Through the implementation of this project, we will do our utmost to create a dementia-friendly environment where dementia patients can increase their social participation and live with peace of mind in their own communities."
