ESG Business Agreement Signed by City, Korea Energy Agency, Korea Energy Engineers Association, Hanwha Q CELLS, Dongyang ENP, and Grand Sun Technology Group at City Hall on 25th at 2 PM
Solar Power Plants Worth 100 Million KRW to Be Installed at Two Climate Crisis-Vulnerable Social Welfare Facilities... Expected to Save 8 Million KRW in Annual Electricity Bills and Reduce Carbon Emissions by 24 Tons
On the 25th at 2 p.m., the city of Busan will sign a business agreement to promote the 'Solar Power Energy Sharing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance, Social Value Management) Project' with the Korea Energy Agency, Korea Association of Energy Engineers, Hanwha Q CELLS, Dongyang ENP, and Grand Sun Technology Group at the conference room on the 26th floor of City Hall.
This agreement was prepared to confirm the cooperation between the public, private, and governmental sectors in the energy field to jointly promote the 'Solar Power Energy Sharing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance, Social Value Management) Project' and to define the roles of each participating organization.
This project aims to install solar power plants worth approximately 100 million KRW at two social welfare facilities vulnerable to climate crises such as heatwaves and cold spells. One facility will be equipped per year, and the project will be carried out over two years in total.
Under this agreement, the city will be responsible for identifying social welfare facilities to support and organizing events; the Korea Energy Agency (Busan-Ulsan Regional Headquarters) will oversee and manage the cooperative project and provide funding; the Korea Association of Energy Engineers (Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Branch) will provide energy diagnostics and diagnostic reports; Hanwha Q CELLS (Korea Plant) will supply 40kW (20kW per year) of solar modules; Dongyang ENP will provide solar inverters; and Grand Sun Technology Group will be responsible for the construction and warranty of the solar power plants.
The city expects that installing these two solar power plants will reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by 24 tons, generate 52 MWh of electricity, and save approximately 8 million KRW in electricity costs.
Park Dongseok, Director of the Advanced Industry Bureau of the city, stated, "This project, in which the public, private, and governmental sectors cooperate to provide solar power facilities to social welfare institutions that are energy vulnerable, is a virtuous initiative that strengthens the social safety net and improves the welfare level of the local community amid the climate crisis. We expect that this project will bring Busan one step closer to becoming a city where citizens are happy, and we hope the virtuous cycle of ESG projects that pursue eco-friendliness and shared social values will continue."
