President Yoon Suk-yeol appointed Kim Wan-seop as Minister of Environment on the 24th.
The Blue House announced that President Yoon approved Kim's appointment bill that afternoon.
The National Assembly's Environment and Labor Committee held a confirmation hearing for candidate Kim on the 22nd and adopted the hearing report that morning.
Minister Kim entered public service in 1992 by passing the 36th Administrative Examination and has served as Director-General of the Budget Office at the Ministry of Economy and Finance and as the 2nd Vice Minister.
In this year's 22nd general election, he was recruited as a talent by the People Power Party and ran for Wonju-eul, Gangwon Province, but lost to incumbent Song Ki-heon of the Democratic Party of Korea.
