The activities of the Seocho-gu representatives in the second half of the 11th Seoul Metropolitan Council are remarkable.
In particular, Seocho-gu, which is practically the stronghold of the People Power Party, saw three-term member Choi Ho-jeong elected as the chairperson of the Seoul Metropolitan Council for the second half, followed by outstanding performances in the standing committee chair elections held on the 24th.
In the People Power Party standing committee chair elections held that day, two-term member Lee Suk-ja (Seocho 2, former chairperson of the Planning and Economy Committee in the first half) was once again elected as the candidate for the Operations Committee chair, the number one standing committee.
Candidate Lee secured first place in the primary against Shin Dong-won and Lee Bong-jun, and is expected to take the senior standing committee chair position in the Seoul Metropolitan Council.
Additionally, Park Sang-hyuk (Seocho 1) was elected as the candidate for the Education Committee chair, a position newly assigned to the People Power Party this term. Four candidates ran in the Education Committee chair primary, including Ko Kwang-min (Seocho 3), Seo Sang-yeol (Guro 1), and Choi Yu-hee (Yongsan 2).
Along with this, ▲Jang Tae-yong (Gangdong 4) was elected as the candidate for the Administrative Autonomy Committee chair ▲Im Chun-dae (Songpa 3) for the Planning and Economy Committee chair ▲Kim Young-ok (Gwangjin 3) for the Health and Welfare Committee chair ▲Kim Tae-soo (Seongbuk 4) for the Housing and Space Committee chair ▲Kim Gil-young (Gangnam 6) for the Urban Planning and Balance Committee chair ▲and Lee Byung-yoon (Dongdaemun 1) for the Transportation Committee chair were elected as candidates.
Notably, Lee Byung-yoon, who served as the vice-chair of the Transportation Committee in the first half, was elected as the Transportation Committee chair candidate as he wished.
Once the candidates for the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee chair, Urban Safety Committee chair, and Environment and Water Resources Committee chair, which are allocated to the Democratic Party, are confirmed, the final election will be held at the council plenary session at 2 p.m. on the 29th.
