On the 24th, Chungnam Province issued a "high water temperature advisory" for the Cheonsuman coastal area.
The high water temperature advisory is issued when the water temperature reaches or is predicted to reach 28°C in a given area. This year, the advisory was issued four days earlier than last year.
Damages caused by high water temperatures have occurred every two to three years, with property losses amounting to 5 billion KRW in 2016, 2.9 billion KRW in 2018, and 900 million KRW in 2021.
The province expects that, due to the expansion of the North Pacific High this week, water temperatures along the West Sea coast will rise rapidly. In response, a field response team will be operated to strengthen water temperature monitoring.
If damages occur due to high water temperatures, joint investigations with city and county governments will be conducted to begin recovery efforts.
