1,404 Public Sale, Profit-Sharing Sale, and Rental Housing Units
Kids Cafe, Cultural Center, and Workshop as Resident Convenience Facilities
Social Mix Complex Realized... Construction Starts in Second Half of 2026
A public housing complex with up to 46 floors and 1,404 households will be developed on the west side of Ssangmun Station on Line 4. The public housing complex will feature a variety of floor plans, ranging from small units for one- to two-person households to medium and large units for families of four or more.
On the 24th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the complex project plan for the ‘Ssangmun Station West Side Urban Public Housing Complex District’ was conditionally approved at the 5th Integrated Public Housing Deliberation Committee.
The urban public housing complex project is a policy aimed at rapidly supplying housing led by the public sector in aging urban areas where private entities find it difficult to carry out redevelopment projects. Following three locations last year (east side of Ssangmun Station, Banghak Station, and Yeonsinnae), and one location in June (Singil 2 District), a total of five locations, including the west side of Ssangmun Station, have passed the integrated deliberation.
The project site is located at 138-1 Ssangmun-dong, Dobong-gu, within a 10-minute walking distance from Ssangmun Station, making it a transit-oriented area. A total of 1,404 public housing units will be built in 13 buildings ranging from five basement floors to 46 above-ground floors. The composition includes 884 public sale housing units, 281 profit-sharing sale housing units, and 239 public rental housing units.
The public housing complex will be constructed with various floor plans, from small units (31㎡ exclusive area) for one- to two-person households, medium-small units (59㎡ and 61㎡) for three-person households, to medium-large units (84㎡ and 105㎡) for families of four or more.
Seoul City plans to establish a park within the complex and build various community facilities such as public pedestrian pathways for residents’ convenience, kids cafes, cultural centers, and workshops. Public open spaces will be created along major streets, and architectural plans will be designed to harmonize with the surrounding low-rise residential areas. Universal design will be applied so that anyone, regardless of age or disability, can freely use the facilities within the complex.
Seoul City plans to implement the Ssangmun Station West Side public housing as a social mix complex without distinguishing between sale and rental housing. Once the complex project plan is approved reflecting the results of the integrated public housing deliberation, construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026, with completion targeted for 2029.
