Prosecutors Seek Pretrial Detention for YouTuber Gujaeyeok and Fraud Detector on 'Tzyang Extortion' Charges

The prosecution has requested a pre-arrest warrant for a YouTuber accused of threatening and extorting money from mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jung-won).

The Criminal Division 2 of Suwon District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Jung Hyun-seung) filed a pre-arrest warrant on the 23rd against YouTubers Gujeyeok (real name Lee Jun-hee) and Jujak Gambyeolsa (Jeon Guk-jin) on charges of extortion, threats, and coercion.

Gujeyeok and Jujak Gambyeolsa are accused of extorting 55 million won from Tzuyang in February last year. Suwon District Prosecutors' Office received the case from Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office and began an investigation, conducting a search and seizure at Gujeyeok's residence and other locations on the 18th. The day before, Gujeyeok and Jujak Gambyeolsa were summoned for questioning.

Gujeyeok denies the charges, stating, "It was Tzuyang's side who first requested the service for risk management, and I reluctantly accepted the (service) contract." Earlier, on the 15th, Gujeyeok voluntarily appeared at Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office and said, "I request a thorough investigation to reveal the reality of the cartel of Korea's top academic institutions manipulating this case behind the scenes and to protect my safety." He also denied allegations of threatening Tzuyang, saying, "There is no such fact."

The pre-trial detention hearing for Gujeyeok and Jujak Gambyeolsa will be held at the Suwon District Court.
