Conducted on the Occasion of the 14th On-Site Inspection Day
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency will visit workplaces vulnerable to heatwaves, heavy rain, and typhoons on the 24th, the 14th Field Inspection Day, to conduct focused inspections and guidance on safety and health measures. Field Inspection Day is a workplace safety supervision event held every second and fourth Wednesday of the month.
On this day, local labor office chiefs, industrial safety inspectors, and agency staff nationwide will closely monitor the implementation of the three basic rules to prevent heat-related illnesses among workers and the heat illness prevention guidelines, as heatwave warnings and advisories have been issued regionally.
In addition, in preparation for heavy rain, they will check whether safety measures against flooding, collapse, and electric shock have been established, and inspect whether precautions are in place against falling temporary construction materials and crane overturning due to strong winds. They will also provide guidance on safety measures and technical support through the rain recovery support team before the restoration process and resumption of work.
Lee Jung-sik, Minister of Employment and Labor, stated, "Although the monsoon season is not over yet, rainfall has already exceeded the average of previous years, and the heatwave is more severe than last year," adding, "As heatwaves and heavy rains occur repeatedly, thorough preparation is necessary to prevent worker accidents and workplace damage." He continued, "Employers and workers are urged to actively stop work in the event of imminent danger."
