Who Is the US Democratic Party's Harris Running Mate? "Selection Underway"

As Vice President Kamala Harris is considered a leading candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in the United States, her team has reportedly begun the process of selecting a running mate, according to major foreign media including CNN on the 22nd (local time).

CNN, citing multiple sources, reported that North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly have been asked to submit financial, family, and other personal information. About 10 names have been listed as potential running mates, most of whom are elected officials.

Another foreign media outlet reported that former Attorney General Eric Holder and his law firm Covington & Burling are expected to conduct vetting of Vice President Harris’s potential running mates.

The media explained that if Holder, a political and legal expert, participates in the vetting process, he can help reassure Democrats by minimizing major conflicts should Harris become the presidential nominee. Holder served as the first African American Attorney General of the United States for six years during President Barack Obama’s administration.

Currently mentioned as potential running mates for Vice President Harris, in addition to Governor Cooper, Governor Shapiro, and Senator Kelly, are Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. Foreign media analyze that these individuals are strong candidates who could help defeat former President Donald Trump and are potentially capable of assuming the presidency if Vice President Harris is unable to fulfill her duties.
